Featured – Beyond the Wanderlust!

One of the hardest parts about being an artist is putting my work out there for public consumption. As much as I love what I do and create it is another thing to make it available for critique and potential criticism…which is EXACTLY why I do it. If I know one thing for certain it is that putting myself in situations that make me the most uncomfortable are what allows me to grow and improve.

But it’s not to say I always jump in head first…I usually wade before I swim! Like with submitting my work for publication. I started with really small publications and usually submitted the work I knew I was ‘best’ at. I wouldn’t submit anything for exclusive publication because I knew the risk of rejection was higher and I wasn’t quite ready for the critique. Until NOW!

I recently took the plunge and decided to send one of my engagement sessions to one of my absolute favorite publications. I had yet to have the nerve to submit because they require exclusivity and are limited in who and what they take. But it was time to grow and I knew it had to be done. SO I wrote a letter to the editor, put together an album from the session, clicked send and nearly puked. I pretty much held my breath for 3 weeks waiting for a response. When I finally got one it said ‘Congratulations’…I exhaled and let myself just be giddy.

Today, that session was published by Beyond the Wanderlust www.beyondthewanderlust.com and you can see it here: http://beyondthewanderlust.com/san-francisco-fine-arts-engagement-nicole-patrick/

I’m so proud of this feature and so happy to share this session. Thanks to everyone that continues to follow, believe in and support RMP!
